This ’20s Craftsman had plenty of charm, but not enough space, and the dated ’70s second story was starting to have water intrusion and structural problems. Earthsky built a new modern addition to the rear of the house and fully insulated and re-sided the old exterior to bring it up to modern standards. Although from vastly different eras, the old part of the house, with beadboard ceilings and walls, and heart pine floors, plays nicely with the new, with polished concrete and raw cor-ten steel providing a textured contrast.
